Elisabeth Rigden
Founder | Wife | Mom | Food Preserver
Hi there! My name is Elisabeth (with a "S") as I was born in Switzerland. I was raised on a dairy farm, where I learned early on the value of hard work, scratch cooking and growing as much as our own food as possible. Preserving wasn't a trend in our family, it was simply a way of life.
With that mindset I have literally been preserving my entire life! According to my auntie, I was preserving before it became the "in thing".
From freeze drying, canning and dehydrating , I love finding simple, wholesome ways to preserve great food, just like I do for my family. If it's not something I would proudly serve at my own table, it doesn't go in a jar.
Today I share those same wholesome, simply preserved foods with families in High River and the surrounding areas through my small business, The Simplified Life.
When I am not in my kitchen preserving food, I love hiking with my husband or friends (with freeze-dried snacks packed for the summit), spending time with my family and living out my faith through giving and tithing.
PS. My husband thinks I have a jar addiction . . . but when you love preserving food, there's no such thing as too many jars.
